Getting Started FAQ

How do I get started?
Simple! Visit us at the school! Feel free to observe classes and talk to us to see if it is something you are interested in trying.

Can I get a free lesson?
Yes. If you'd like to try a class just come down and we'll get you started!

How much does it cost?
If you're interested in prices, please contact us or come by the school.

Do you give discounts to families?
Yes. We have discounts for multiple family members.

Do I need a uniform to start?
Yes. The gi is a vital part of the equipment we used for learning so it is encouraged that one be purchased if you decided that the martial arts are for you.

I have an injury, can I still take classes?
Absolutely. The martial arts are for all ages and body types, even with pre-existing issues. We would never expect you to do more than you could physically handle and it would not change your participation or advancement in classes.

What ages do you teach?
We teach children starting at 5 years old.

How do classes work?
Each class starts off with regimentation, which covers all of our blocks and strikes, and continues on to cover a scheduled lesson plan. Each week we will review a set curriculum of either, Kenpo Karate, Jiu Jitsu, Sparring, Forms or other group drills.

I've studied martial arts before, can I still come to the school?
Absolutely! In fact, if you've studied our style of Kenpo/Juijitsu we encourage you to keep your rank. Each case is different so we will work with you to come up with a plan to make you feel comfortable in our school and advance you.

If you've studied other styles, the rank may not transfer but your experience certainly will. We encourage people to share their past experience and techniques.

Who teaches each class?
All of our classes are taught by black belt instructors. Come by and meet us!

I have more questions. Who do I talk to?
You have a few options. We will always be available to talk during our normal business hours. If you have any questions and you would like to talk to us before you come down, see the contact page and either call or email us.

We look forward to seeing you down at our dojo!
